One socket has no power
Are the other sockets in the room still working? Let me know when this one stopped working and what was plugged into it.
Faulty sockets
Socket stopped working?
A socket can lose power because of the fitting itself or the wiring behind it. I'll check both before recommending a repair. When you get in touch, tell me whether it's just one socket or several.

The job you need
When you contact me, include when the problem started and how much of your home is affected.

If power cuts in and out, describe when it happens. I'll check the socket and its connections during the visit.
Replacing the faceplate may be part of the repair, but the wiring behind it needs checking too.
Tell me which appliances have stopped working and whether they're plugged into the same group of sockets. I can investigate the circuit as well as the individual fittings.
During the visit
The existing wiring affects what can be done. I'll check it and explain the work before you agree to it.
I'll check the socket and the circuit feeding it to find the fault.
Once I know what needs repairing, you get the explanation and price before the work starts.
The repaired socket and any connections I've worked on are checked afterwards.
Looking for an extra socket? See socket installation. Repeated trips affecting several rooms are covered under electrical fault finding.
Stop using the affected fitting and contact an electrician. Keep covers closed and do not touch the wiring when taking a photo.
Arranging a visit
Your postcode and a description of the problem give me enough to start. We can then agree a time and the visit charge.
Tell me what's stopped working, or what you'd like installed. A photo is useful if the fitting is difficult to describe.
I'll check when I can get to your address and explain the visit charge before we book a time.
For a repair, the price depends on what I find. I'll explain it before doing that work.
Before you get in touch
Ask about the visit charge when you contact me. Any repair work is priced once I've checked the problem.
No, I take small jobs. A single socket is fine.
Yes. Please mention any entry code or access arrangements when we book the visit.
Contact me first. The fault may be in the wiring, so buying a new fitting before it has been checked could be unnecessary.
I'll tell you the visit charge when we arrange a time. The repair price comes once I've found the fault, before I start fixing it.
